Efetividade Da Fosfomicina Contra Uropatógenos Isolados Em Uroculturas

Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the susceptibility of uropathogens isolated in urocultures to Fosfomycin, comparing it with the other antimicrobials used routinely in the treatment of uncomplicated urinary tract infections (UUTI). For this, 386 uropathogen positive samples isolated from urocultures of different origin were tested in the Monera Microbiology Laboratory in the city of Aracaju/ SE. The results showed that Escherichia coli showed a resistance index of only 4% for the main isolated uropathogen, a result lower than those obtained for other uropathogens such as Enterobacter spp (38%) and Proteus spp (33%). Fosfomycin demonstrated higher levels of effectiveness against the uropathogens studied, when compared to antimicrobials commonly used to treat UUTI. It was concluded, therefore, that Fosfomycin showed lower resistance indices compared to other drugs commonly used to treat UUTI and that the susceptibility to Fosfomycin may vary according to the microbial genus / species and that a study with a larger number of isolates it is necessary to obtain more reliable data for some uropathogens.
