“…Earlier, the present authors carried out studies of absorption spectra of the − IO 3 iodate ion, the I − iodide ion, the I 2 molecular iodine, and the − I 3 triiodide ion in the UV spectral band. Thus, in [16][17][18] methods for detecting these substances in neuter and acid liquid media were suggested on the basis of the results of measuring their absorption cross-section values on several wavelengths in the range from 200 to 400 nm. The performed evaluation revealed that the detection sensitivity of substances containing iodine offer the possibility of using these methods for monitoring kinetics of physicochemical reactions which take place in liquid process media during SNF recycling processes.…”

“…Detection sensitivity and measurement accuracy of concentrations of substances containing iodine obtained in [16][17][18] can be improved by a more detailed study of their absorption spectra: by measuring the values of absorption cross-sections in a broader spectral band, by studying relations of absorption coefficients to concentrations of substances containing iodine.…”

“…The wavelength is 590 nm and molar absorptivity ε = 1.08 × 10 5 . The iodine-starch method can only determine the micro-iodine, and the determined range is 0.1-0.5 µg ml −1 , furthermore we need to add the starch solution as a displayer [15][16][17] during the testing. At the same time the amount of displayer added has a tremendous influence on the solution color and its intensity color development, while the time has an influence on the titration result, therefore both must be corrected repeatedly while operating.…”

“…The obtained spectrum was registered with a photoelectronic multiplier (11) and was processed with a computer (12). The elimination of ambient light was done with optical diaphragms ( 13)- (15), located along the optical axis, and the cell was placed in a light-tight case (16). The instability of the source was taken into account automatically by the simultaneous recording of radiation intensities not only behind the cell, but also in front of it with the help of a photodetector (17).…”

“…Thus, we developed the absorption on-line method of detecting ethyl mercaptan in natural gas [13]. As for liquid media, papers [14,15] inform on developing absorption on-line methods of molecular iodine and its anionic forms detecting in process liquors produced during spent nuclear fuel reprocessing.…”
