Effect of acidic environment and intracanal medicament on push-out bond strength of biodentine and mineral trioxide aggregate plus: an in vitro study

Abstract: Introduction. This in-vitro study aims to evaluate the effect of acidic environment and intracanal medicament on push out bond strength of Biodentine and Mineral Trioxide Aggregate Plus (MTA Plus) Method. Forty extracted single rooted teeth were sectioned below the cement-enamel junction. The root canals were instrumented using rotary files and then peeso reamer was used to obtain standardized root canal dimension. Specimens were randomly classified into following groups- Group 1: calcium hydroxide in th… Show more

“…The calcium silicate cements may not set reliably in the acidic environment of an pulpal or periapical infection, [77][78][79] may dissolve in acidic conditions, and are affected by acidic irrigants 80 used in conjunction with a dental procedure. 81,82 The lower acid resistance of the calcium silicate cement has prevented their use as a restorative material, where materials are constantly exposed to our acidic diets. The advantage of calcium aluminate cement is its acid resistance, such as in bacterial environments, compared to the calcium silicate cements.…”
