New chlordiazepoxide hydrochloride (Ch-Cl) ion-selective electrodes (conventional type) based on ion associates, chlordiazepoxidium-phosphomolybdate (I) and chlordiazepoxidium-phosphotungstate (II), were prepared. The electrodes exhibited mean slopes of calibration graphs of 59.4 mV and 60.8 mV per decade of (Ch-Cl) concentration at 25˚C for electrodes (I) and (II), respectively. Both electrodes could be used within the concentration range 3.16 × 10 -6 -1 × 10 -2 M (Ch-Cl) within the pH range 2.0 -4.5. The standard electrode potentials were determined at different temperatures and used to calculate the isothermal coefficients of the electrodes, which were 0.00139 and 0.00093 V ˚C -1 for electrodes (I) and (II), respectively. The electrodes showed a very good selectivity for Ch-Cl with respect to the number of inorganic cations, amino acids and sugars. The electrodes were applied to the potentiometric determination of the chlordiazepoxide ion and its pharmaceutical preparation under batch and flow injection conditions. Also, chlordiazepoxide was determined by conductimetric titrations. Graphite, copper and silver coated wires were prepared and characterized as sensors for the drug under investigation.

New Chlorphenoxamine (Ch) ion selective plastic membrane electrodes for both conventional and coated wire types based on the ion associate of Ch-HCl with sodium tetraphenylborate (NaTPB) and phosphotungestic acid (PTA) were prepared. The conventional type electrode was fully characterized in terms of membrane composition, plasticizer, filling solution, life span, pH, ionic strength, temperature. The membranes of optimum compositions were used for the preparation of both graphite and cupper coated wire electrodes. The prepared electrodes were used for the potentiometric determination of the investigated drug in raw material and pharmaceutical preparations under batch and flow injection analysis conditions. The selectivity of the electrodes towards a large number of excipients like inorganic cations, sugars, amino acids and other antihistaminic drugs was tested. Determination of Ch-HCl, the solubility product of the ion associate and the formation constant of the precipitation reaction leading to the ion associate formation of Ch-HCl with NaTPB and PTA were carried out using conductimetric measurements.

Papaverine (Pap) ion-selective plastic membrane electrodes based on ion associates of papaverine with phosphotungstic acid (Pap -PTA) and phosphomolybdic acid (Pap -PMA) were prepared and fully characterized in terms of membrane composition, life span, pH, and temperature. The proposed electrodes were applied to potentiometeric determination of papaverine in the parent substance and a related pharmaceutical preparation under batch and flow-injection analysis conditions. In addition, conductometric titrations were used for the assay of papaverine in the parent substance and the related pharmaceutical preparation. The selectivity of electrodes with respect to a large number of foreign inorganic cations, amino acids, and sugars was tested. The solubility product of the ion associate and the rate constant of the precipitation reaction leading to the ion associate formation were determined conductometrically.
