Effect of Alternating Bending on Texture, Structure, and Elastic Properties of Sheets of Magnesium Lithium Alloy

Abstract: The effect of low-cycle alternating bending at room temperature on the crystallographic texture, metallographic structure, and elastic properties of sheets of MgLi5 (mass) magnesium alloy after warm cross-rolling has been studied. Texture of alloy is differed from the texture of pure magnesium. The initial texture of alloy is characterized by a wide scatter of basal poles in the transverse direction. In the process of alternating bending, the changes in the initial texture and structure (which is represented b… Show more

“…The type, nature and degree of texture scattering after alternating bending depends on the cycle's number of alternating bending, as mentioned above. A more detailed description of the texture and microstructure after the AB can be found in [6]. The integrated diffraction spectra of the Mg-5% Li alloy treated in according with the processing mode II, as well as after a different number of cycles of alternating bending are shown in Fig.…”

“…So called dislocation arrangement parameter M is depended on the outer effective cut-off radius of dislocations, = (2sinθ)  ⁄ , θ is the diffraction angle, λ is the radiation wavelength, O is the highest order of the value . For the convenience of further analysis, we introduce the following notation: The relation (6) takes such form at the new notation:…”

“…The alternating bending render most significant impact on the structural parameters and mechanical properties, which are sensitive to small deformations during tensile tests. These are texture, yield stress and twins [6,7]. The texture in [6,7] was represented using inverse pole figures (IPF) of the direction (ND) to the rolling plane (IPF ND).…”
