Effect of Aluminum Powder on the Luminous Intensity of an Illuminant

Abstract: The particle diameter and luminous intensity of aluminum powder were measured by laser analyzer and photo-effect tester. The luminous intensity of [Ba(NO3)2+Al] illuminant were studied for different shape and diameter of aluminum powder as well as ultra-fine powder prepared by chemical method. The results show that the luminous intensity increases with particle size reduced, and luminous intensity of non-spherical aluminum is more than that of spherical aluminum. The change rate of luminous intensity increases… Show more

“…The shellac was dissolved with anaqueous ethanol, and the dissolved shellac was wet mixed, granulated and dried with the dry mixed reagent. The dried sample was weighed with 2g and pressed into a drug column of ø10 mm×10 mm with a pressure density of 2.15 g/cm 3 . Six illuminant formulations were studied with different ratios.…”

“…The luminous intensity of the formula was 5.29×10 4 cd and the combustion time was 72.2 s. X Han [2] explored the selection of oxidizer, combustible agent and additive in infrared illuminant, and determined the formula of near infrared illuminant with good effect: 35% CsNO3, 35% KNO3, 22% Mg, 4% C6H2N4 and 4% phenolic resin. J Qu [3] found that the particle size and shape of aluminum powder also have a certain influence on the luminous intensity of illuminant, and the luminous intensity increases when the particle size decreases. When the particle size is the same, the luminous intensity of non-spherical aluminum particles is higher than that of spherical aluminum particles, and the luminous intensity of pyrotechnic can be greatly improved after the aluminum powder is ultra-refined to sub-micron.…”
