Effect of Ammonium Sulphate Incorporated with Calcium Nitrate Fertilizers on Nutritional Status, Fruit Set and Yield of Pomegranate Trees cv. Wonderful

Abstract: The effect of (NH₄)₂SO₄:Ca(NO3)2 ratios applied by fertigation on nutritional status, fruit set, yield, and marketable yield of pomegranate trees cv. Wonderful was evaluated. The trees were provided with five nutrient solutions with the same total nitrogen level (200 units/ha) but with different (NH₄)₂SO₄:Ca(NO3)2 ratios (100:0, 90:10, 80:20, 70:30, and 60:40). Increasing the (NH₄)₂SO₄ ratio from 60 to 100% significantly reduced the nitrogen (N), magnesium (Mg), calcium (Ca), and potassium (K) concentrations w… Show more

“…In addition, the application of sustainability in agriculture using chemical fertilizers could be applied to support the revitalization of poor soil fertility and the enrichment of the range of nutrients available to plants. The application of chemical fertilizers in such arid soils greatly enhances the nutritional health of field plants and thus increases the productivity of crops and fruit (i.e., food production) [25]. Finally, the main advantages resulting from the use of efficient soil and agricultural equipment management are as follows: diversifying crop cultivation and contributing significantly to changing agricultural field operating practices; reducing the cost of growing plants and cultivation in general; and economy in the operation of agricultural equipment, including soil tillage equipment.…”

“…Valencia orange tree productivity was evaluated in this study using the nutritional status and fruit yield parameters. Nutritional status was evaluated using the leaf mineral content and total chlorophyll content, as outlined by Al-Dosary, Abdel-Sattar & Aboukarima (2022) . Leaf total chlorophyll contents were estimated in three randomly sampled fresh green leaves using a Minolta (SPAD) chlorophyll meter according to the methods described by Yadava (1986) .…”

“…In tropical and sub-tropical regions, pomegranate (Punica granatum L., Punicaceae) has been cultivated for five thousand years in a wide range of countries such as Morocco, Spain, and Egypt, where it is valued for its antioxidative and nutritional value [1,2]. There are numerous and well-known cultivars of pomegranate such as the "Wonderful" variety, which is cultivated for fresh eating or for commercial juice production [3].…”
