“…This result can lead to beneficial effects because it could favor the interaction with water and bacteria and thus increase the overall material degradability, both from a chemical and biological standpoint. In fact, it is well-known that some polyesters, while being fully degradable, often experience extremely slow degradation kinetics because of their hydrophobicity, which hinders water diffusion into the bulk [ 2 , 31 ]. The actual biodegradation kinetics and performance would deserve further investigation and will be the object of a future work.…”

“…of PBAT. At present, the modification of PBAT has been studied by adding a small amount of organic clay into the polymer, [1][2][3] and the performance of this composite material has been significantly improved in various aspects, but the improvement of the performance is very much related to the organic clay and its dispersion in the PBAT matrix, that is, it is related to the method of preparation, therefore, the organization of clay and the choice of the method of preparation have become a hot spot in the research on the modification of PBAT. [4][5][6][7] Vermiculite (VMT) is a common layered silicate mineral with many advantages, such as stable properties, frost resistance, antibacterial, non-toxic, low price, and abundant resources.…”

“…Typical PLA transmittance bands can be observed between 3500 and 3000 cm −1 (hydroxyl stretching) and between 3000 and 2850 cm −1 (CH 3 stretching). Bands between 2170 and 2100 cm −1 can be assigned to carboxyl O─H stretching 14,47 from PLA, whereas C─O bonds could be related to the transmittance band at 1750 cm −1 46,48 . The transmittance between 1300 and 1015 cm −1 can be attributed to PLA ester groups vibrations, 14,49 and at 700 cm −1 to methylene groups vibrations, which comprise a region close to PBAT (at 725 cm −1 ) 48 …”
