Effect of Anodizing Electrolyte for Structural Adhesives Bonding Study of Aluminium-Carbon Laminates Composites

Abstract: Fibre metal laminates (FMLs) are multi-component materials that utilize metals, fibres and matrix resins. These composite laminates are in demand in the market for their stiffness and rigidity for structural applications. Their strength is highly dependent on the mechanical interlocking mechanism between the metal surface and the composite laminates. Therefore, the metal surface must be well-treated to ensure a good interfacial interaction between the metal surface and the composite laminates. In this research… Show more

“…One of the most common methods for weight reduction while maintaining its strength is to embrace composite protection panel. The design of laminate must retain the original strength, while reducing the weight of panel [14][15][16]. As studied, the front material of protection panel must consist of high hardness, whilst the back plate has high ductility.…”

“…by precipitating a reduction in the strength of the structure which can lead to catastrophic failure [1][2][3][4][5][6][7]. Under low-velocity impact, the damage is frequently barely visible (BVID) and often cannot be detected by Non-Destructive Testing (NDT).…”
