“…Apart from this study, only a few studies reported long-term follow-up of patients who received arthrocentesis. In a recent retrospective study, Nitzan et al (8) concluded that about 80% of patients with TMJ OA who received arthrocentesis with lavage alone had favorable outcomes, namely, reduced pain and increased mouth opening, after a mean follow-up of 56 months. This present study confirms their results in patients who underwent arthrocentesis without additional sodium hyaluronate.…”
