Effect of atmosphere on the synthesis of potassium titanate

Abstract: Potassium titanate (K 4 Ti 3 O 8 ) was synthesized by the reaction between ilmenite and concentrated KOH solution in the atmosphere of nitrogen, still air, and oxygen, respectively. The obtained samples were systematically investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD), inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometer (ICP-OES), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). XRD results indicate that K 4 Ti 3 O 8 have been synthesized in different atmospheres. The oxidizing atmosphere could enhance the conversion ra… Show more

“…The tensile strength and yield strength of the steel quenched at 920°C for 70s achieved their maximum values of 1428.9MPa and 1233.4MPa, respectively. H.M. Li et al [12] discussed the inherent strengthen mechanism of ultra-low-carbon martensite steel. They found that dislocation strengthening, solution strengthening and grain refinement strengthening made great contribution on increasing the strength of ultra-low-carbon steel.…”
