Effect of bepridil in patients with chronic stable angina: results of a multicenter trial.

Abstract: in patients with ischemic heart disease4 5 and arrhythmias.6' 7 The long half-life of bepridil (-42 hr) allows for once-a-day dosing. This limits fluctuation in drug level and provides a prolonged effect. This report details results of a multicenter double-blind randomized crossover trial in which effects of bepridil compared with placebo were investigated in patients with exertional angina. MethodsPatient population. Forty-four patients (39 men and five women) participated in this investigation. The average … Show more

“…The double-blind, in parallel groups, multicenter study of the Bepridil Collaborative Study Group (Hill et al, 1985), compared 4 patients groups (BE at 200, 300 and 400 mg once a day and PL). The patients were randomized after a 2-week single-blind placebo and then followed up for 12 weeks.…”

“…Bepridil also functions in exercise-induced myocardial ischemia and angina pectoris. The clinical experimental results, on the other hand, revealed dizziness, liver dysfunction, and even death cases (Hill et al 1985 ). The most typical event is multiple patients resulting in bepridil-induced pulmonary toxicity, which directly led to the suspension of bepridil in the USA (Gaku et al 2003 ; Suzuki et al 2009 ; Watanabe et al 2009 ).…”
