“…A plant-derived sterol mixture including BSS was found to inhibit the recruitment of neutrophils in a murine model of carrageenan-induced inflammation in vivo (Navarro et al, 2001). The effects of BSS on pro-inflammatory signal transduction have not been extensively investigated, the only hint being that BSS was found to inhibit the active form of the PKCα in prostate-derived cells (Kassen et al, 2000).
