Effect of Bioregulators on Growth, Yield and Chemical Constituents of Soybean (Glycine max)

Abstract:

A three-year study was conducted during 2006-2008 in India (Manipur) to study the response of soybean variety JS 335 to salicylic acid @ 50 ppm, Ethrel @ 200 ppm, Cycocel @ 500 ppm   and control (water spray) applied as foliar spray at different stages viz. flower-initiation (40 DAS),  pod-initiation (60 DAS) and flower-initiation + pod-initiation. The study revealed that application of Ethrel @ 200 ppm at both flower-initiation (40 DAS) + pod-initiation (60 DAS) gave higher vegetative growth, yield, net re… Show more

“…Application of chlormequat choloride @ 500 ppm recorded significantly higher gross returns ( 89,128 ha -1 ), net returns ( 59,777 ha -1 ) and B:C ratio (3.03), followed by ethrel @ 200 ppm ( 81,627 ha -1 , 53,191 ha -1 and 2.87) as compared to other treatments (Table 1). These results are in agreement with the findings of Devi et al, (2011), and(Sanjay, 2017). Among the interaction, application of 125 % RDF + chormequat choloride @ 500 ppm recorded significantly higher gross returns ( 94,745 ha -1 ) and net returns ( 64,714 ha -1 ), followed by 125 RDF + ethrel @ 200 ppm ( 85,347 ha -1 , 56,146 ha -1 ) as compared to other treatment combinations, C 1 and C 2 (Table.…”

“…Similar increase in seeds pod -1 due to application of NAA (50 ppm) in cowpea was also reported (Ganiger et al, 2002 andJayaram andRamaiah, 1980). The growth rate of plants are greatly influenced by the environment and growth substances, including exogenously applied growth regulators (Raghava et al, 1996) which in turn stimulate growth, flower initiation and pod setting of pulse crops (Devi et al, 2011). Improvement in growth characters in green gram by growth regulators application have been reported by Parmar et al, (2012).…”

“…Here, each phytohormone treatment recorded significant increase in leaf area compared to control. However, earlier findings of Mir et al, (2008) and Devi (2011) reported that foliar application of ethephon increased leaf area index in brassica and soybean. Khairul Mazed et al, (2015) observed an increase in leaf length and width with increase in GA 3 concentration from 0 ppm (L-32.36 cm; W-26.39 cm) to 110 ppm (L-34.28 cm; W-28.56 cm) with maximum value at GA 3 90 ppm concentration (L-36.14 cm; W-30.46 cm).…”
