Effect of bleaching on the color match of single-shade resin composites

Abstract: Purpose: To evaluate the color match of single-shade resin composites before and after bleaching procedures, through instrumental and visual analyses. Methods: Class V cavities were created on the buccal surfaces of 80 extracted human molars, restored with 4 single-shade composites (Omnichroma; Clearfil Majesty ES-2 Universal; Essentia Universal; Venus Diamond One). A spectrophotometer (VITA Easyshade V) was used to evaluate the tooth/resin color match before (T 0 ), and 24 h (T 1 ) and one week (T 2 ) after d… Show more

“…[ 5 7 13 17 ] In a previous study, the color match between tooth and composite restorations was recorded using ΔE 00 formula. [ 8 ] These results are in line with those of the present article, highlighting the fact that regardless of the color analysis system used, the BE results of single shade composites are extremely performant from an esthetic point of view.…”

“…Venus and Essentia composites gave the best color match results after tooth bleaching procedures, but all the tested materials showed a good BE before and after professional bleaching. [ 8 ] Even if the color variation analysis system used is different from the one adopted in this manuscript (CIEDE2000 vs. CIELAB), it is curious to note how the tendency of the 4 composites to change color following tooth bleaching is very comparable to that found in the present study.…”
