“…Therefore, acid oxidation has been adopted to modify the surface characteristic of CNTs and promote their reactivity with Zn 2+ precursor during the synthesis of ZnO/CNTs photocatalyst. During acid oxidation, defects were created along the side wall of CNTs to allow the accommodation of oxygenated functional group such as carboxylic group on the CNTs as evidenced in our previous study 30 and the XPS analysis in Figure 5. The presence of oxygenated functional group renders a negatively charged surface of CNTs.…”

“…Firstly, CNTs were subjected to acid oxidation treatment with a mixture of H 2 SO 4 and HNO 3 in 3:1 (v/v%) at 100°C for 6 h. It was then washed with distilled water until neutral pH and dried in the oven at 80°C for 24 h. The ZnO/CNTs photocatalysts with 10 wt% of CNTs was synthesized via modified sol–gel method as reported in the previous study 30 . In brief, 0.1 M of zinc acetate dihydrate aqueous solution was prepared prior to the addition of CNTs followed by 15 min of ultrasonication.…”

“…As shown in Figure 5(B), the band gap decreased with increasing f‐rGO loading due to the formation of new levels in the optical band gap. The slight drop of Eg from 2.62 to 2.56 eV at 0.04 wt.% of f‐rGO loading was likely due to light absorption by nanoparticles 50 . It has been previously reported that the variations in the optical band gap changes the electronic structure of PVA molecules and there was no effect of higher filler concentration on band gap 49 …”

“…known to have attraction among researchers such as carbon nanotube (CNT), titanium dioxide nanotube (TiO 2 nanotube), nickel oxide (NiO), as well as zinc oxide (ZnO) nanostructures [5][6][7][8]. Among these numerous materials, ZnO is a diverse functional material due to its own properties and functionalities.…”
