“…This difference in morphologies is likely to have an influence on the corrosion performance of the two steels since the smaller grain size, higher pearlite density and its greater area over the Fe matrix in case of X65, may lead to a less reactive surface. 38 Fig. 2 shows the SEM morphologies of AS1020 and X65 steels after 72 h of immersion in CO 2 -saturated 0.01 M NaCl solution.…”

“…Since steel plays a crucial role in petroleum industry, companies have prioritized finding ways of protecting steel rather than replacing it by other materials. Some of the ways consist of alloys, coatings, special treatments or inhibitors [ 10 , 11 , 12 , 13 , 14 , 15 , 16 , 17 ], in which the inhibitors have been demonstrated possessing the most suitable advantages. Most of today’s commercial corrosion inhibitors are amine-based as well as its derivatives.…”

“…However, in case of practical applications, it is totally a different scenario which should face a poor corrosion resistance in all kinds of aggressive environments such as industrial cleaning, acid corrosion in the acid picking processes, acid rain, and oil well acidification, as well as ocean environment [2,3]. Therefore, many attempts have been recommended for mitigating the steel corrosion using the control of its microstructure [4], coatings [5], surface treatments [6], adding certain alloying elements [7], and self-assembly of organic molecules on a solid surface or at the solid-liquid interface [8], as well as the corrosion inhibitors [9][10][11][12][13]. Among these methods, addition of corrosion inhibitor to the environment has been tremendously used as the ideal way for improving corrosion resistance of steel due to the cost savings, easy to use, and not interrupting any processes.…”
