Effect of Combined Application of Nitrogen and Boron on Yield Contributing Characters and Yield of Sesame (Sesamum indicum L.)

Abstract: Sesame is an important oilseed crop due to its different types of commercial application. The produced oil from sesame uses for food and beauty care product preparation due to its high nutritive value. However, the yield of sesame is comparatively low than other oilseed crops. Nitrogen and Boron are essential nutrients for plant development and growth. So, the combined application of nitrogen and boron can increase the yield of sesame. From these perspectives, an experiment was carried out to study the effect … Show more

“…This increase in growth and yield attributes ultimately helped in realization of higher seed yield. The results obtained in this study are in agreement with those reported by Sarala and Jagannatham [10] Chakraborty [11] Patel et al [12] Hasan [13] Gebremariam [14] Kithan et al [15] Shamsuzzoha et al [16] Adisu et al [17] and Jose et al [18].…”

“…Modhavadiya et al, (2018) have concluded in their study which tackled the effect of four levels of boron (0, 1, 2, 3 kg B/ha) add to soil, that the fourth level is the highest in seed crop. Shamsuzzoha et al, (2019) have indicated, when they used three levels of boron (0, 2, 3 kg B/ha) add to soil, that there is an abstract effect in seed crop by the increase of boron levels. Padasalagi et al, (2019) have got an abstract increase in sesame crop by increasing boron level from (2.5 -5 kg B/ha).…”

“…In another report, the highest values of seed and stover yield were recorded using a treatment of 0.15% foliar spray of B in sesame due to fertility improvement and the translocation of photosynthates [15]. Studies in the literature have demonstrated that the seed yield of sesamum can be increased with an increase in B levels [16,17]. For instance, a significant increase of 10.7% in seed yield of sesame has been recorded with 0.15% B application over the control under red laterite soils [18].…”
