Effect of Dialysate Temperature and Diabetes on Autonomic Cardiovascular Regulation during Hemodialysis

Abstract: Background/Aims: Lowering dialysate temperature to increase intradialytic hemodynamic stability may interfere with the ultrafiltration-dependent intradialytic autonomic cardiovascular regulation. Zitt et al also investigated the association between diabetes and autonomic CV regulation during HD, and in contrast to eight diabetic patients who had a blunted autonomic response, LF, HF and LF/HF increased during dialysis in nine non-diabetic patients [76].
