“…There are rare patients who are unduly responsive or resistant to coumarin anticoagulants; therefore, the dose must be modified accordingly. Coumarin anticoagulants can be administered to nursing mothers without hazard of hemorrhage to the infant, 6 but the anticoagulants are dangerous to the fetus in pregnant women. The patient who continues to have angina, decompensation or repeated episodes of myocardial infarction or embolic episodes is best kept on anticoagulant therapy for an indefinite period, provided the prothrombin tests are dependable and the patient can and will cooperate and have prothrombin time determinations at proper intervals.…”

“…One group of investigators [128] found bleeding problems in 5 out of investigators found low levels of the drug in milk, only 13 of 38 samples actually contained the drug, and none of 22 babies showed any adverse effects [129], There is one case report of incisional and scrotal hemorrhage after an inguinal herniotomy in a breast-fed infant of a mother receiving phenindione [130], None of the infants of the 25 nursing mothers who took Dicumarol had a prolonged prothrombin time, whereas the clotting times were 40-50% of normal in the mothers [131]. Warfarin was not detected in breast milk or plasma of suckling infants of 13 mothers taking the drug in therapeutic doses and therefore would appear to be safe [132].…”

“…Parece que muy a pesar de que haya un alto contenido de alcohol en la leche materna, y el niño reciba una buena cantidad de esta leche, no se aprecian síntomas en el lactante, salvo el caso de madres alcohólicas crónicas exageradas, capaces de llegar a concentraciones alcohólicas sanguíneas muy altas (9) . Binkiewics ele Boston publicó el caso, muy bien estudiado por cierto, de un niño lactante, de cuatro meses de edad.…”
