“…From our results and the above studies (Tang et al, 2013Ryk et al, 2002Yu et al, 2011), it appears that the texturing of multi-shape dimple pattern had more friction reduction effect due to higher hydrodynamic pressure. This hypothesis is consistent with the theoretical model of Hongbin et al (2010), which predicted higher hydrodynamic pressure generation with multi-shape dimple pattern than single-shape dimple pattern. In addition, the dimples that had a combination of two geometrical shapes have the largest combined converging wedge, and the combined discrete lower are more efficient to keep the lubrication inside the dimples by acting as oil reservoirs.…”
