Effect of erbium–ytterbium on the sensitivity of sensors of temperature based on fibre optic preform Er–Yb: BaF2–P2O5

Abstract: We report experimental results on the temperature dependence (interval 25–300 °C) of luminescence decay time of fluorophosphate fibre preforms with different concentrations of Er3+–Yb3+. Our results indicate that increasing the ytterbium concentration improves the sensitivity to changes in the temperature of the sample.
