“…According to Sreekumar et al [35], the presence of TiO 2 in corn starch films can act as a reinforcement agent, improving its mechanical (tensile strength) and physicochemical properties (degree of swelling in water). Similarly, a maize starch/PVA composite film with TiO 2 incorporated had an increase of 100% in the tensile strength and water vapor permeability (50% decrease), but these effects were dose-dependent with an optimum TiO 2 concentration of 0.05% wt.-the film also exhibited UV protection [26].
