Effect of growth substances on morpho-physiological traits and yield in pearl millet under rainfed condition

Abstract: Field experiment was carried out to find out the effect of foliar spray of plant growth retardant substances on different growth parameter of pearl millet under rainfed condition during kharif 2015-17. The results revealed that foliar application of growth regulating substances had significant impact on number of effective tillers, plant height and chlorophyll content. Plant height and chlorophyll content at 70 days after sowing were significantly affected with application of growth regulating substances in al… Show more

“…Seed cotton yield was influenced significantly due to various treatments and highest seed cotton yield was recorded in T 8 (Polythene mulch + Removal of Monopodia at 60 DAS + Detopping at 75 DAS) (3314, 3911 and 3613 kg ha -1 during 2021-22, 2022-23 and in pooled respectively) and it was significantly superior over rest of the treatments. Similar results were observed by Choudhary et al (2021) [2] , Vekaria et al, (2020) [3] , Suma et al, (2019) [6] , Isal et al, (2019) [7] and Chauhan et al, (2014) [10] . “…Flowering stage is a critical growth stage where impact of drought stress was too high [34]. A huge yield gap was observed when crop was exposed to low moisture stress at flowering initiation stage [35]. The raining period start and end during the vegetative stage, that's way drought stress mostly occurs at reproductive stage.…”

“…The detrimental effects of heavy metal toxicity on ecosystems, crops, and human health have become a global concern, affecting millions of hectares of cultivable land worldwide [5]. Heavy metal (HM) stress, categorized as an abiotic stress, presents a persistent challenge to agricultural practices and significantly reduces the yield of vital crops, such as rice [6], maize [7], millet [8], wheat [9], and soybean [10]. HMs are characterized by their high density, with a density exceeding 5 g/cm 3 , and they possess relatively higher osmotic weight.…”
