Effect of heat treatment on the mechanical properties of jute yarns

Abstract: In the last two decades, an increasing interest has been observed for the use of natural fibers such as jute fibers in different applications. These fibers are characterized by their low cost and their availability. They are mainly used in fabric bag manufacturing. The objective of this paper is to study the effect of temperature on the mechanical properties of jute yarns. An experimental study was conducted at different temperatures (22 °C; 80 °C; 105 °C and 150 °C) for 24 h. Each degree was followed by tensi… Show more

“…Bahan utama dari komposit yang dirancang adalah serat jute sebagai penguat dan epoxy resin sebagai matrik. Serat jute dalam struktur komposit dibedakan yaitu berbentuk anyaman dan benang serat jute [23]. Perbedaan dari jute yang dipergunakan terkait dengan konstruksi komposit yang diproduksi yaitu secara laminate dan preprag.…”

“…It takes nearly 3 months for the jute plant to reach a height of 12 -15 feet. Jute fibres, yarns, and composites are used to make a variety of products, and as a result, demand for these materials is increasing significantly (2). Jute fibre is a bastfibre derived from the bark of the jute plant that contains three major categories of chemical compounds: cellulose (5863%), hemicellulose (2024%), and lignin (1215%), as well as some other minor constituents such as fats, pectin, and aqueous extract.…”

“…The characterisation of fibre crimp can generally be divided into static and dynamic parameters [3]. Static parameters describe the geometrical shape of crimp bows, and dynamic parameters describe the tensile fibre behaviour attributed to the crimped shape of the fibre [4].…”
