“…Therefore, the non-uniform distribution of copper is the main factor for contributing to the decreased corrosion resistance in the SLM-produced Ti6Al4V3Cu alloys, created from mixture powder, compared to the pre-alloyed metallic powder. However, it must be noted that the casting Ti6Al4V3Cu-C alloy showed the lowest ion concentration compared with the SLM-produced alloys, although the SLM-produced alloys showed the lower corrosion current density, which was reported in the previous study [ 26 ]. Therefore, the in-depth study and underlying mechanism should be explored in further study.…”

“…In our previous study, a series of Cu-bearing Ti6Al4V alloys were fabricated by selective laser melting (SLM) technology with mixed powders, consisting of Cu and Ti6Al4V, and the effects of Cu content on the microstructure, corrosion resistance, antibacterial properties, and cytotoxicity of SLM-produced Ti6Al4V-Cu alloys were systematically assessed [ 24 , 25 ]. Based on the above results, Ti6Al4V3Cu pre-alloyed powders were produced using the gas atomization method, from the corresponding cast ingot, and then used in the SLM technology [ 26 ]. Further, the corrosion resistance of the SLM-produced Ti6Al4V3Cu alloys, produced from the pre-alloyed powder, was investigated at different heat treatments.…”

“…The advantages of a local drug delivery system include: drug release at the affected area, the drug concentration is rapidly reached locally, maintenance of the local effective drug concentration for longer durations, and the prevention of adverse reactions caused by the systemic application of antibiotics. This prevents the disadvantage of local loss of blood supply after a bone defect [22]. Therefore, there was a significant decrease in the rates of infection in the gentamicin/HA/TNT group contrasted with that of the standard Cp-Ti group and TNT group.…”

“…After soaking in SBF for 7 days, the ions from the titanate layer exchanged with the H 3 O 3þ leading to the formation of TieOH groups on the surface of the treated sample. This influenced the ability for apatite formation due to the presence of the rutile oxide phase (TiO 2 ) and increased the corrosion resistance of the SLM Tie6Ale4V which prevents the release of ions into the body fluid [62]. The XRD pattern of the untreated sample did not reveal the formation of any oxide phase on its surface since no characteristic peaks of oxide phases were observed.…”
