Effect of Host Medium on the Fluorescence Emission Intensity of Rhodamine B in Liquid and Solid Phase

Abstract: In this work, we study the effect of concentration, host medium, PH and phase states on the fluorescence emission from the laser dye Rhodamine B pumped by UV laser as exited source. The polymethylmethacrylate PMMA is used as a host medium in case of solid phase samples while, ethanol and Tetrahydrofuran (THF) are used in case of a liquid one. Laser Induced Fluorescence (LIF) technique was used to study the fluorescence properties of both cases of liquid and thin film solid-state samples. In addition, the Dual … Show more

“…The explanation for such beha- molecular forms, such as cationic, zwitterionic, quinonic and lactonic. 32 Since ionic charges are in direct relation with the electrical conductivity of the solution, increasing the charge density on the surface of the ejected jet leads to an increase in the electric charges carried by the jet. When the conductivity of the solution is increased, more charges can be carried by the jet.…”

“…2(b)). Such reduction in the fluorescence intensity is associated with non radiative energy transfer resulting from the formation of aggregates, when the average distance among molecules is decreased [39], as well as to the relaxation between vibronic levels of Rhodamine B [40,41].…”

“…RhB is a three-dimensional cationic probe in an acidic medium and a neutral one (electronic supplementary material, figure S1) in a basic solution [19], while HPTS is a two-dimensional poly-anionic dye (electronic supplementary material, figure S2) having a pK a of approximately 7.3 [20]. The electronic absorption and emission spectra of these dyes, in addition to the lifetime values, are sensitive to their molecular environment [21][22][23]; thus, they are used in this paper to examine their conformation and dynamics upon intercalation in the MgAlA LDHs [24].…”
