Effect of metal ions on self reinforcement of metal/adhesive interphase by γ‐aminopropyltriethoxysilane

Abstract: When copper/epoxy joints are pretreated with 1 wt.-% solution of y-aminopropyltriethoxysilane (y-APS) in ethanol, the coordination between the copper ions and the amino groups of y-APS and 4,4'-diaminodiphenylmethane could bring about self-reinforcement of the metaVadhesive interphase when the joints were exposed in 3% aqueous NaCl solutions for 160 d.
