Effect of methylene chain length of perovskite-type layered [NH3(CH2)nNH3]ZnCl4 (n = 2, 3, and 4) crystals on thermodynamic properties, structural geometry, and molecular dynamics

Abstract: 1H NMR spin–lattice relaxation times T1ρ of [NH3(CH2)nNH3]ZnCl4 (n = 2, 3, and 4) as a function of inverse temperature. The solid lines represent activation energy.

“…We then conducted a comparison between our study on [NH 3 (CH 2 ) n NH 3 ]ZnCl 4 (n=6) and previous studies on n=2, 3, 4, and 5. [35][36][37][38] By analyzing the physicochemical properties of these organic-inorganic compounds, we examined the impact of the methylene chain length. With an increase in the length of the methylene chain, the thermal stability is enhanced.…”

“…Spin-lattice relaxation time T 1r values were obtained using a p/2 − s pulse by a spinlock pulse of duration s for 1 H and 13 C, and were measured using a previously reported method. 48 Further, the 113 Cd static NMR spectra of the NH(CH 3 ) 3 CdCl 3 crystals were measured at a Larmor frequency of 88.75 MHz, and the chemical shis used CdCl 2 O 8 $6H 2 O as standard samples. The chemical shis and T 1r could not be measured above 420 K because the NMR spectroscopy did not have adequate temperature control at high temperature.…”

“…The 1 H and 13 C T 1r values of NH 2 (CH 3 ) 2 CdCl 3 crystals were collected using a spin-lock pulse and subsequent FID. The intensity changes in the measured magnetization are calculated using the following equation: 45,46 S(t)/S(0) = exp(-t/T 1r )…”
