Effect of medium acidity on growth and rooting of different plant species growing in vitro

Evidence for such a mechanism comes from the finding that Delphinium plants, which increase the medium pH, take up 3 times as much NO~-per gram fresh weight from 10.5ml liquid MS medium within 28 days than Hemerocallis plants, which acidify the medium (Leifert et al 1991a;Lumsden et al 1990). The rate of NH~ uptake from MS medium by these plant species would have to be determined in future experiments to prove such a mechanism.…”
