Effect of Morphology for Ammonium Dinitramide on the Mechanical and Combustion Properties of Composite Propargyl‐terminated Copolyether Propellant

Abstract: Because the isocyanate-crosslinked copolyether binder system has poor compatibility with ammonium dinitramide (ADN), the click-chemistry propargyl-terminated ethylene oxide-tetrahydrofuran copolyether (PTPET) binder cured by multi-functional azide is introduced. In the solid propellant, the effects of spherical ADN and flaky ADN on the mechanical and combustion properties of PTPET solid propellants were investigated. The results show that the mechanical properties of the propellant prepared with the ADN-spheri… Show more

“…One explanation may be that the activity of hydroxyl with benzaldehyde in TBA‐403 decreases because of the already formed Schiff base, owing to the big space steric hindrance caused by benzene rings. On the other hand, the G′ can also increase with the interfacial actions between fillers and binder, which limits the movement of molecular chains [27–28].…”

“…Unfortunately, this reaction is highly humidity‐sensitive, resulting in network defects and deterioration in the mechanical properties 9,10 . In addition, isocyanates with high reactivity can react with other energetic components, causing a reduction in energy density 11–13 . Thus, developing an isocyanate‐free curing system to fabricate the binder with good mechanical properties is necessary.…”

“…The structural integrity study of grain is based on research on the mechanical characteristics and constitutive model of solid propellant [8][9][10][11]. External temperature, loading strain rate, and loading mode all had a clear impact on the mechanical characteristics of solid propellants [12][13][14]. To inform the structural design of grain and guarantee the appropriate operation of SRM, research on the mechanical characteristics and constitutive model of solid propellants under various loading circumstances was of major value [15].…”
