In addition, systemic progesterone concentrations declined within 12 h after PGE-2 treatment (Giménez & Henricks, 1983) period (Reynolds et al, 1983), suggesting that PGE-2 (plus oestradiol-17ß) will not prevent produc¬ tion and transfer of uterine luteolytic substances, but affects luteal function directly (Marsh, 1970;Henderson, Scaramuzzi & Baird, 1977;Reynolds et al, 1981).
