Objective: To determine the association of Upper extremity musculoskeletal disorders and Exposure to Ergonomic risk factors among handicraft workers. Methods: This cross-sectional survey was conducted in a 12 weeks’ duration i.e. from November 2018 till January 2019. Nordic musculoskeletal questionnaire was used to determine the frequency of upper limb musculoskeletal disorders. Postural analysis was done using Rapid Upper Limb Assessment (RULA). Data was collected from 100 Handicraft workers and the type of work included Art work (n=18), Ada Work (n=7), botanical arrangement (n=11), Textile, fashion designing and stitching (n=38), Fine arts (n=20), embroidery and knitting (n=6). Results: The frequency distribution of Rapid upper limb assessment (RULA) score for exposure to risk factors showed that 47 participants were at a high risk and required implementation of change. Most of the participants (n=35) reported pain in neck and shoulder (n=29). The chi square test for association between pain in upper extremity and exposure to risk factors showed that only wrist pain had statistically significant association with overall RULA score (p-value<0.05). Conclusion: The study concluded that neck and shoulder are more frequently affected among handicraft workers. Pendahuluan: Tuntutan tugas di tempat kerja khususnya pada sektor industri, mengharuskan pekerja untuk bekerja dalam kondisi yang buruk dan dilakukan secara berulang. Hampir 60-70% perajin tanah liat menggunakan tenaga fisik dan sekitar 80% pada proses pembentukan dilakukan dalam posisi duduk. Aktivitas ini diidentifikasi memiliki risiko yang besar memicu timbulnya keluhan musculoskeletal. Posisi tidak alamiah tubuh ketika bekerja seperti punggung yang cenderung membungkuk dan posisi tubuh menjauhi pusat gravitasi tubuh dapat meningkatkan risiko munculnya keluhan pada otot dan tulang atau sering disebut musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara postur kerja dengan kejadian MSDs pada perajin tanah liat di Desa Pejaten, Tabanan. Metode: Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan cross-sectional dengan desain observasional analitik. Penarikan sampel dalam penelitian ini menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Jumlah sampel dalam penelitian ini sebanyak 52 orang berdasarakan hasil kriteria inklusi dan eksklusi. Pengambilan data dilakukan dengan wawancara, untuk mengetahui tingkat keluhan musculoskeletal responden menggunakan kuisioner Nordic Body Maps (NBM) dan risiko postur kerja menggunakan analisa Rapid Entire Body Assessment (REBA). Hasil: Uji hipotesis yang digunakan adalah Somer’s D untuk mengalisa hubungan postur kerja dengan MSDs. Diperoleh nilai p=0,021 atau p<0,05. Simpulan: Terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara postur kerja dengan keluhan musculoskeletal pada perajin tanah liat di Desa Pejaten Tabanan. BACKGROUND: Text Neck Syndrome (TNS) is a common issue in the neck. The emergence of such issues makes it more pressing to offer ergonomic training to prevent their consequences. The present study aimed to compare training through the lecture and Self-Study methods awareness and attitudes about the TNS. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The study was conducted on 94 female high-school students in 2021, and a quasi-experimental methodology was implemented. The participants were randomly divided into a lecture method and a self-study group. A researcher-made questionnaire was utilized for data collection to measure the participants’ attitudes and awareness. The data were analyzed according to descriptive and inferential statistics. RESULT: The findings showed that the mean post-test scores of the participants’ awareness in the lecture method and self-study groups were 8.74 and 5.83, respectively, and a significant increase was observed in the post-test scores of the lecture method group. However, no significant difference was observed between the pre-test and post-test attitude scores of the two groups. CONCLUSION: As training by the use of the lecture method in a webinar format has the characteristics of a traditional and online educational simultaneously, it offers an advantage that can be utilized in educational institutions as a complementary (or even an independent) method. Moreover, the experts in medical informational sciences need to accompany training groups as they are responsible to select and prepare credible content materials for audiences.
