“…The fact of this reduction has occurred, is probably by execute mechanism of Paclobutrazol action, which acts in phase 2 of gibberellin synthesis root. Active ingredient blocks action performs of Kaurene Oxidase enzyme preventing formation of any gibberellin type (March et al, 2013;Glab et al, 2020), and thus, formation of the most compact leaf and, consequently, the lowest lawn growth (McElroy, 2012).…”

“…Paclobutrazol acts on the synthesis route of gibberellins, and interferes in phase 2, that is, it blocks the action of the enzyme Kaurene Oxidase, which inhibits the conversion of kurene into kaurenol and, consequently, prevents the formation of any type of gibberellin as well as cellular elongation, creating compact leaf (McElroy, 2012;March et al, 2013;Glab et al, 2020). When applied directly to the soil or substrate, it has greater activity and efficiency compared to foliar application, as it is translocated almost exclusively by xylem and less by phloem, where it is absorbed by the roots and moved directly to the growth points (McCarty, 2008;Blank et al, 2009).…”

“…Although the doses of 1.0 and 2.0 mL L -1 did not differ from each other, it can be observed that with increasing concentrations, there is a decrease of fresh mass, which is explained by its mechanism of action. Paclobutrazol blocks enzyme ent-kaurene oxidase action inhibiting the conversion of ent-kaurene to ent-kaurenol, which prevents any type of gibberellin formation (Glab et al, 2020), creating more compact leaf (McElroy, 2012). Working with ´TifEagle´ (C. dactylon x C. transvaalensis), McCullough et al (2004) observed 86% of reduction in grass clippings amount with two Paclobutrazol applications, with intervals of three weeks between them.…”

“…Paclobutrazol is a well-studied regulator, and registered for several species of grass in the European Union (Semillas Fitó, 2010) and in the USA (McEloroy, 2012). It is a compound of triazole group and reduces plant growth by blocking the action of the enzyme ent-kaurene oxidase, which inhibits the conversion of ent-kaurene to ent-kaurenol, which prevents the formation of any type of gibberellin (Glab et al, 2020). On the other hand, for several products such as trinexapac-ethyl and prohexadione-calcium and the herbicides, imazethapyr, metsulfuron-methyl, imazaquin and glyphosate (Dinalli et al, 2015;Marchi et al, 2017;Queiroz et al, 2017;Dias et al, 2019;Gazola et al, 2019) there are reports as being used in lawns for growth control.…”

“…High density is required not only to cover the terrain of sport lawns, but also to form a cushioning surface, which has the potential to reduce the impact of athletes' sports activities (Gobilik et al, 2013). Density, uniformity, texture, smoothness, soil coverage and bonding are functional characteristics and aesthetic value to be analyzed for the evaluation of the quality of a turfgrass by researchers and breeders (Glab et al, 2020).…”
