“…In our study, we found that CMT can decrease significantly after vitrectomy with or without adjuvant intravitreal corticosteroid injection for ERM. In a previous study by Kim et al [24], the CMT was rapidly reduced during the first 3 months after ERM surgery, and this reduction was persistent after 12 postoperative months. However, it rarely reached a normal value.…”

“…The authors explained that the result might be related to the low prednisolone dosage used (100 mg/day for 5 days). Kim et al [24] evaluated the effects of postoperative subtenon triamcinolone injections (40 mg/1 mL) in eyes with ERM after vitrectomy and found no beneficial effects compared with the control. The efficacy of combined oral or subtenon corticosteroid injection and vitrectomy seems too low to achieve a significant difference in macula edema resolution compared with that of vitrectomy alone.…”

“…TA is a steroid with anti-inflammatory properties, and it may affect the development of postoperative IRF. However, in our previous study, postoperative outcomes of ERM surgery were compared between two groups classified according to intravitreal or posterior subtenon TA injection at the end of the operation [17,18]. No significant differences were found in terms of visual acuity and foveal thickness.…”
