“…The radiative transition rates (A R ), radiative lifetime ( R ), stimulated emission cross section ( P ), branching ratios (ˇR), and measured ratios (ˇm es ) were determined for the 4 G 5/2 by using Eq. (3), (7), (9), and (8), as displayed in Table 3.…”

“…Recently there are many reports on optical properties of the materials, such as the K 2 YF 5 :Nd 3+ , K 2 YF 5 :Pr 3+ , K 2 YF 5 :Tm 3+ , K 2 GdF 5 :Tb 3+ , and K 2 GdF 5 :Dy 3+ crystals [1][2][3][5][6][7]. The authors have investigated the optical properties of these materials by using optically stimulated luminescence (OSL) [8], thermoluminescence [9], frequency upconversion fluorescence [3], site-selective laser-excitation spectroscopy [10]. It is noted that K 2 YF 5 phases crystallize in orthorhombic system, each Y 3+ ion is surrounded by seven fluoride ions forming a C 2v local point symmetry.…”

“…[6,7], establish prerequisites for developing novel optical RE doped materials. However, up to now only a few papers concerning TL properties of complex RE fluorides have been published [8][9][10][11]. In this work the TL properties of yttrium fluorides KYF 4 and K 2 YF 5 singly doped with Ce 3+ , Tb 3+ , Dy 3+ or Tm 3+ after a or b irradiation have been studied to reveal dependence of the TL properties on the host, the RE ion and the specific radiation field.…”

“…Up to now, there have been some publications on the spectroscopic properties of rare-earth ions-doped K 2 YF 5 crystals. For example, the Tb 3+ 5 D 3 -5 D 4 cross-relaxation process [3], the 4f 2 5d → 4f 3 interconfigurational transitions of Nd 3+ [4], the spectroscopic properties of Pr 3+ [2,[5][6][7][8], the spectroscopic studies and crystal field calculation for Nd 3+ [9] and Tm 3+ [10], the upconversion fluorescence of Nd 3+ [11] and Er 3+ [12] in K 2 YF 5 crystal hosts had been investigated.…”
