“…Generally, lattice defects via pre-deformation can promote the nucleation and suppress coarsening of precipitates [8,9,10,11,13,17]. Thus, precipitation characteristics could be related with the distribution of lattice defects.…”

“…Cold deformation is an effective way to tailor the precipitation behavior of Mg alloys [8,9,10,11,12,13]. It has been reported that the high density of dislocations generated by cold working accelerated aging kinetics and facilitated the nucleation of precipitates during the aging process, leading to a higher aging hardening response [9].…”

“…After 4-8 h ageing treatment, the hardness of E þ300Rþ200A and Eþ400R þ200A increased sharply and then reached peak hardness after 28 h and 48 h, respectively. This accelerated agehardening for Eþ300Rþ200A sample is due to the fact that high density of dislocations accumulated in the Mg matrix of the sheet rolled at lower temperature facilitated the nucleation of main strengthening phase (b 0 phase) [17,19,20]. After reaching peak ageing, hardness of both Eþ300Rþ200A and Eþ400R þ200A deceased slightly until 1024 h, which indicated good thermal stability of the sheets.…”

“…6f. It can be seen that b 0 phase precipitated heterogeneously and apt to precipitate along defects produced by deformation process due to the semi-coherent relationship between the phase and a-Mg matrix [17,19,20]. Fig.…”
