Effect of processing parameters on the uniformity of adhesive meltblown web

Abstract: The influence of the main processing parameters, including the primary air pressure, the accessory air pressure, the melt throughput rate, and the die-to-collector distance, on the uniformity of adhesive meltblown web produced on the pilot-scale melt-blowing equipment with the added accessory device is investigated using weight measurement and thickness measurement. The effects of the process parameters on the web weight unevenness and the web thickness unevenness are similar, so both the weight unevenness and… Show more

“…These thinner fibers reduced the basis weight difference between different parts of the fibrous web. Wang and coworkers [7,8] also reported similar conclusion that BWD could be improved with increasing DCD. But, overlong DCD resulted in many smaller and lighter fibers floating in the air, which enlarged the difference of BWD.…”

“…Moreover, the collecting time also increased, which was benecial for forming a uffy structure. 21 As a result of this factor, a uffy three-dimensional micro porous structure melt blown nonwoven lter was acquired. Then, the corona charging technology was applied to further improve the ltration efficiency by electrostatic attraction effects and the additive was also introduced to improve the electret performance.…”

“…Melt-blowing webs produced from different polymer systems are extensively used in a wide range of applications such as filtration media, medical fabrics, adsorbent media, and sanitary products, to name only a few. [2,3] It has become an important industrial technique in nonwovens because of its ability to produce microfiber fabrics suitable for filtration media. The particle collection efficiency of a filter is known to be enhanced by static charging of fibers.…”
