Effect of Proprioceptive Rehabilitation on Postural Control Following Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction

Abstract: Abstract.[Purpose] The aim of this study was to determine the functional level of activity and postural control after rehabilitation of anterior cruciate ligament reconstructed knees and compare them with nonoperated limbs and healthy limbs in control subjects.[Subjects] Twenty-seven patients participated in the study: 17 had undergone reconstruction with a bone-patellar tendon-bone and 10 with a semitendinosus graft technique. The same rehabilitation protocol was used for all of the patients. Besides the pati… Show more

“…These disorders change the activities of individual muscle groups and impair motor coordination 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 ) . Both kinematic and neuromuscular factors such as muscle activation, recruitment, and firing patterns must be taken into consideration to accurately characterize complex knee stability 5 ) . This eventually leads to reduced muscle strength and even muscle atrophy.…”

“…The most widely used scales include: the IKDC form, Lysholm score, Tengner activity level scale, Cincinnati score, KOOS score and visual analogue scale (VAS) for pain [2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9][10]20,21]. Two of them (IKDS form and Lysholm score) were employed by us since they are well-studied, reliable, up-to-date and widely used.…”
