Abstract:Thistle (Onopordum acanthium) has been traditionally employed for liver protection. However, we recently identified silibinin, the main bioactive compound of thistle extract, as an in vitro pancreatic lipase inhibitor, which suggested a potential role as an anti-obesity agent.
