Effect of Silica on Pyrene-Contaminated Soil Subjected to Mechanochemical Remediation

Abstract: Soil contaminated by polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) is a common problem in the world. Mechanochemical treatment is a promising technology for remediation of PAH-contaminated soil. This study investigated the feasibility of pyrene degradation with silica by mechanochemical remediation. The effects of ball milling time and rotation speed on the removal efficiency of pyrene in soil were also studied. When the milling time was 3 h and the rotation speed was 500 rpm, the removal efficiency of pyrene in soi… Show more

“…The main preparation process of MPA‐modified BPR composites (MPABPR) is shown in Figure 1A. The MPA and BPR were mixed and dissolved in absolute ethanol according to the formula in Table S1, and then poured into the ball mill tank for 2 h at 300 rpm 31 . After that, the solvent removed the composite into a mold for curing, and the samples (ϕ30 × 10 mm) were obtained for the following test.…”

The BPR composites with different contents of MPA (0, 2.5, 5, and 10 wt%) were named BPR, MPABPR 2.5 , MPABPR 5 , and MPABPR 10 , respectively.…”
