Effect of Size on the Saturable Absorption and Reverse Saturable Absorption in Silver Nanoparticle and Ultrafast Dynamics at 400 nm

Abstract: Saturable absorption and reverse saturable absorption play an important role in the studies of the nonlinear optical properties of nanoparticles at resonant excitation. With this viewpoint, nonlinear absorption processes of chemically prepared silver nanoparticles in deionized water were studied using femtosecond laser pulses at 400 nm. Our nonlinear absorption study shows that there is competition between saturable absorption and two-photon absorption in prepared Ag NPs which depends on the size of the nanopa… Show more

“…The enhancement in the third-order nonlinear optical response can be attributed to surface plasmon absorption effects of Ag NPs [ 43 ]. A nonlinear absorption coefficient and nonlinear refractive index are strongly dependent on the NP concentration in the solutions and the duration of pulses [ 44 ]. In addition, a fast photoresponse is characteristic in CNT-decorated samples [ 45 ].…”

“…On the other hand, Maurya and co-workers published the study of TPA dependence of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) and their concentration in a solution. The results show that the TPA predominates over the SA when the size of AgNPs is smaller, in addition to the SA being dominant over the TPA when the concentration is higher [20].…”

“…Meanwhile, plasma characteristics significantly differ with the duration of ablating laser pulse, leading to variations in absorption, heating, and ablation [32][33][34][35][36]. The spatiotemporal distribution of plasma produced by long laser pulses differs from that produced by short laser pulses [37][38][39].…”
