Effect of solution parameters on the removal efficiency of humic substances by a reuse material

Abstract: This paper provides an overview of the ability of polypropylene (PPL), a synthetic polymeric adsorbent made from reused plastic material. The removal of humic substances (HS) in a solution pretreated with dedoxyltrimethylammoniumbromide (DDTMAB), a cationic quaternary ammonium compound (QAC), was studied under various conditions. The removal of HS was achieved in its solute complexed form but also as suspended solids. The conditions of the HS solution, which fluctuation was suspected to have an impact on the p… Show more

“…Therefore, batch rate tests were carried out at constant pH (7), ionic strength (0.01 M), and temperature (25°C (± 1°C)). The experimental procedure adopted for the batch kinetic experiments was the same as that used for 11.82 and 2.09 l g -1 (see Table 1). The K s c values for sorption onto PPL-HEX are greater than those for sorption onto PPL by factors of 1.91, 2.08 and 2.25 for phenanthrene, fluorene and naphthalene, respectively.…”
