Effect of Some Biopreparations on Health Status of Strawberry (Fragaria ananassa Duch.)

Abstract: The study aimed at comparing the effect of selected biopreparations (Boni protect forte, beta-chikol, Trianum P) and fungicide treatment Switch 62.5 WG (cyprodinil + fludioxonil) on the health status of strawberry grown in the fruiting field at the strawberry farm in Jasionka, Lublin region. The experiment was conducted for three years (2012-2014). Results showed that the application of all biopreparations and fungicide significantly reduced the number of diseased plants and the disease index. The effect of th… Show more

“…The development of Aureobasidium pullulans depends on many factors such as temperature, pH value, nutrient availability in the substrate. Its efficacy in strawberry protection has been proved by many scientists (Lima et al 1997;Prokkola and Kivijärvi 2007;Sylla et al 2013;Wagner and Hetman 2016). These fungi compete with other fungi for space and nutrients, they might be a direct parasite of pathogenic fungi and they produce antimicrobial enzymes and antibiotics (Chi et al 2009).…”

“…Biopreparations can also contain a great variety of beneficial microorganisms, bacteria or fungi. It has been found that in many cases they may be at least as efficient in biocontrol of fruit pathogens as conventional, commercially available products (Wagner and Hetman 2016). It is important to remember, that the efficacy of biopreparations varies and is highly dependent on many factors such as soil and air humidity or rainfalls (Pačuta et al 2018).…”

“…These bioproducts possess antifungal potential, induce resistance to pests and diseases, Stimulates plant growth, enhance plant nutrient uptake and improve the keeping quality of the produce. They can be composed of plant growth promoting bacteria and fungi, plant extracts or animals-derived compounds (Natarajan, 2002;Du Jardin, 2015;Ruzzi and Aroca, 2015;Wagner and Hetman, 2016). Liquid organic manures such as panchagavya, beejamruth, jeevamruth, vermiwash, humic acid, sea weed extract, fish amino, egg amino etc could be considered as a good plant and soil tonic which effectively resist pest and diseases, improve plant growth (Weinert et al, 2014;Varshini and Jayanthi, 2020;Goveanthan et al, 2020;Meyyappan et al, 2021;Nongtdu et al, 2022) and restore the vitality of the soil (Michalak et al, 2016).…”
