Effect of some Herbicides on Oil Seed Rape (Brassica Napus L.) and Associated Weeds

Abstract: Two field experiments were conducted during 1984/1985 and 1985/1986 seasons to study the effect of Alachlor, Metolachlor, Pendimethalin, Diphenamid, CGA 10832 and Oxadiazon as pre-emergence herbicides and EPTC as presowing herbicide at two doses as well as hand-hoeing treatment on weed spread and rapeseed yield under Egyptian conditions. All the tested herbicides except "Oxadiazon" gave satisfactorily good annual grass weed control up to harvest time. While, Oxadiazon and Diphenamid at both doses controlled a… Show more

“…Increased application rate of isoxaflutole has been directly related to maize injury and decreased shoot height (Sprague et al 1999a). Visual symptoms, plant height and shoot and root dry weight reductions are parameters that have been recommended to assess herbicide toxicity (Ibrahim et al 1987, Hassan 1988, Kaur et al 2004, for example, isoxaflutole alone and with metolachlor/benoxacor and acetochlor/MON-13900 on maize (Sprague et al 1999b). In this study, shoot height measurement was taken as a bioassay parameter to assess isoxaflutole phytotoxicity.…”

“…Canola (rapeseed) is one of the oil crops , which contains more than 40% of oil . In Egypt , rapeseed is of recent production but has bright future because of its ability to grow in the new reclaimed lands under wide soil variations as drought and salinity as revealed by some investigations carried out under Egyptian conditions (Ibrahim, et al 1987). Sherif et al .…”
