The current study determined the ideal dose of choline in the diet of laying quails based on egg development, egg quality, and antioxidant capacity. A total of 120 female quails (244.7 ± 10.38 g) were randomly assigned to 6 experimental groups with 5 replicates of 4 quails each. In the 10-week trial, treatment diets were formed by adding 6 choline chloride−60% concentrations providing 1500 (control), 2000, 2500, 3000, 3500, and 4000 mg/kg of choline. The feed intake of quails was quadratically affected (p < 0.05) by the choline level of the diet, in other developmental parameters, and by egg quality among these treatments. The feed intake was reduced to 2500 and 3000 mg/kg levels of choline in the diet compared to the control group. Free radical scavenging capacity (DPPH) of the yolk increased linearly (p < 0.001) with dietary choline levels. In contrast, the thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS) value decreased as dietary choline levels increased, except for 4000 mg/kg levels. Based on the findings of the current study, 1500 mg/kg of dietary choline is adequate to maintain performance parameters and egg quality in laying quails. However, to increase egg antioxidant capacity, in terms of the DPPH value, the dietary choline dose needs to be increased to 3500 mg/kg.

Effect of dietary tea polyphenol (TP) on the content of epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), catechin (C) in egg yolk, and impact on egg quality and production was investigated. For this purpose, 315 healthy Gallus domestiaus aged 42 weeks were selected and randomly divided into 7 groups. The experimental group added 0.02, 0.05, 0.09, 0.14, 0.19 and 0.24% TP to the basic diet. The control group (CK) was fed basal diet. After 10, 20 and 30 days, 15 eggs were randomly selected from each group for egg quality testing, and 20 eggs were selected for EGCG and C content test in the yolk. The results showed that in the 0.24% TP group, the content of EGCG in egg yolk was significantly higher than that of CK group and the 0.02, 0.05, 0.09 and 0.14% TP groups (P < 0.05), and reached the highest on the 30th day (19.171μg/g). The content of C in egg yolk was significantly higher than that in CK group and the 0.02, 0.05, 0.09 and 0.14% TP groups (P < 0.05); and reached the highest on 30th day (7.071 μg/g). The egg weight of the 0.14% TP group on the 10th day and of the 0.19% TP group on the 20th day were significantly lower than that of the CK group (P < 0.05); the egg yolk weight of 0.14% TP on the 10th and 20th days were significantly lower than that of the CK group (P < 0.05). On the 30th day, compared with the control group, the egg weight of the 0.14% TP group was significantly reduced (P < 0.05), the egg yolk color of 0.05 and 0.14% TP groups was significantly increased (P < 0.05). During the whole experiment, the egg production of 0.24% TP group was significantly higher than that of control group (P < 0.05). In conclusion, adding high concentrations of TP can increase the content of EGCG and C in the yolk; however, it has a certain impact on egg weight, yolk color and eggshell thickness. Adding high concentrations of TP may increase egg production. © 2021 Friends Science Publishers

Öz: Bu denemede; yumurtacı tavuk diyetine ayçiçek yağı ve/veya inorganik (sodyum selenit) ve organik selenyum (selenyum bakımından zenginleştirilmiş maya) ilavelerinin; performans, yumurta kalitesi ve yumurta raf ömrü üzerine etkileri incelendi. Toplam 252 adet 42 haftalık yaşta Lohmann beyaz yumurtacı tavuk, 7 tekrarlı (her bir tekrar 6 tavuk) 6 deneme grubuna rastgele dağıtıldı. Deneme deseni; 2×3 tesadüf parsellerine göre dizayn edilmiş faktöriyel deneme planına göre oluşturuldu. Ayçiçek yağlı (%3) ve yağsız olarak hazırlanan her iki ayrı diyete, iki farklı selenyum ilavesi (0.3 mg/kg) yapılarak 6 deneme diyeti oluşturuldu. Deneme 12 hafta sürdürüldü. Denemede, gruplar arasında yumurta verimi, yem tüketimi, yemden yararlanma oranı, özgül ağırlık, Haugh birimi, ak ve sarı oranı bakımından gruplar arasında önemli bir farklılık gözlenmezken yumurta ağırlığı, şekil indeksi, kabuk oranı, kabuk kalınlığı, yumurta sarı rengi, ak ve sarı indeksinde önemli farklılıklar belirlendi (P˂0.05). Yumurta sarısı tiyobarbitürik asit reaktifleri (TBARS) sadece ayçiçek yağı katkılı grupta diğer gruplara kıyasla daha yüksek (P<0.05) tespit edildi. Selenyum ilavesinin yağlı diyetle beslenen gruplarda TBARS değerini düşürdüğü belirlendi (P<0.05). Sonuç olarak; yumurtacı tavuk diyetine ayçiçek yağı ve/veya farklı selenyum kaynağı ilavelerinin genel olarak performans ve yumurta kalite parametrelerini etkilemediği, diyete ayçiçek yağı ilavesinin yumurta sarısı TBARS değerini artırdığı, selenyum ilavesinin ise bu artışı engelleyerek, yumurta raf ömrü üzerine olumlu etkileri olduğu gözlendi.
