Understanding the intricate dynamics of hydraulic jumps in sloped channels holds pivotal importance in various engineering applications. This research explores the intricate relationship between the size of the bed material and the basic properties of hydraulic jumps, providing insight into the relative jump length, height, and energy efficiency. The goal of the research is to get important knowledge that will be useful for optimizing hydraulic systems and enhancing their overall efficiency in diverse engineering domains. This study used an open-channel flow arrangement with four-bed slopes (0° to 6°) and three irregularity heights (10 to 30 mm). During the investigation, the Froude number differed from 2.30 to 8.85 and the Reynolds number differed from 5450 to 25500. A novel instinctive technique was used to create correlations for different hydraulic jump characteristics in roughen-bed inclined channels. The study examines the combined effects of roughness and slope of the bed, and it was discovered that the relative jump height and efficiency of hydraulic jump increase by 19.37% and 8.44% respectively while the relative jump length decreases by 23.05% with an increase in bed slope from 0° to 6°. The relative jump height and efficiency of the hydraulic jump increase by 14.20% and 21.06% respectively while the relative jump length decreases by 29.09% with a rise in bed roughness from 0 to 30 mm.

Introduction Considering the influence of the shrinkage and creep of high-strength concrete on the vertical deformation and stress of structures, the mechanical behaviour during the construction of the giant column frame-core tube-extension arm truss structure system was simulated by using finite element analysis software. Methods For the engineering example of the Wuhan Center, and the safety of the construction channel under a moving load was analysed numerically. The results indicated that that there was a difference in deformation between the elevation position and design position of floor; the maximum deformation difference occurred in the middle of the tower. Results Under moving loads, the displacement and stress of the channel were 0.5 times that under full load. Conclusion As the load moved, the maximum displacement and stress of steel beam and plate changed, while the displacement and stress of the supports and the placed beam and plate remained unchanged and maintained the minimum value.

Background The construction of bridges is one of the infrastructures that support the Trans South-South Java Road in Yogyakarta Province, including the Pandansimo Bridge. This bridge is located in a high liquefaction vulnerability zone near the coastal area with a shallow groundwater table, composed of saturated sandy soil and less than 10 km from the active Opak fault. Objective The study aims to evaluate the liquefaction potential in the Pandansimo Bridge area with the scenario of the 2006 Yogyakarta earthquake of 6.3 Mw. Methods The evaluation used eight modified pairs of ground motion to obtain peak ground acceleration values through nonlinear calculations with site-specific response analysis. Furthermore, the liquefaction potential analysis was conducted based on these results using simplified procedure methods. Results The results show that each soil layer’s peak ground acceleration value ranged from 0.30 g to 0.49 g. Liquefaction potential is at a depth of 1 m to 16 m, with various thicknesses for each borehole depending on the soil properties, with vulnerability levels varying from very low to very high. Conclusion The findings indicate that liquefaction potential occurs at several borehole locations at Pandansimo Bridge. This liquefaction condition may serve as a reference for mitigating strategies applicable in case of probable liquefaction in the infrastructure.
