“…. Tumor cells were cultured as previously described (10). In brief, the cells were grown in RPMI medium (Cambrex, Walkersville, MD, USA) supplemented with 10% fetal bovine serum (PAA Laboratories, Linz, Austria) and 1% penicillin-streptomycin (Gibco BRL, Gaithersburg, MD, USA) at 37˚C in a humidified atmosphere of 5% CO 2 .…”

“…Thermoluminescence dosimetry was performed to measure the radiation dose for the following experiments. After 72 hours, growth inhibition was determined by CCK‐8 assay and combination index values were calculated, as described previously …”

“…To assess long‐term effect of resminostat on irradiated cells, clonogenic assays were conducted in accord with the protocol of Franken et al In brief, 3 × 10 2 to 12 × 10 2 cells were seeded into 6‐well plates. After 24 hours, cells were treated with 1.25 μM or 2.5 μM resminostat and irradiated with 2, 4, 6, or 8 Gy using a conventional radiation source with a 150 kV X‐ray machine, as previously described . After 72 hours, drug‐containing medium was exchanged with drug‐free RPMI medium.…”

“…Similarly, cafestol has also been noted to cause apoptosis by cleavages of the Bid and caspase‐3 in mesothelioma cells . It has been also suggested to reduce apoptotic cell death and clonogenic survival in SCC25, CAL27, and FaDu cell lines . On the other hand, ferulic acid has been reported to results into an apoptotic cell death at 500 μM of concentration after 72 h of exposure in cultured cell lines and MIA PaCa‐2 cells .…”
