Effect of the Thermal Insulation Cover Curing on Temperature Rise and Early-Age Strength of Concrete

Abstract: In the present paper, the effects of thermal insulation cover curing on the rise in temperature of concrete, and further on the mechanical properties of the concrete are measured experimentally. In the experiments, polyurethane foam boards of 100 mm thickness were used for thermal insulation, and three concrete strength grades of C30, C50 and C80, were used as concrete samples. Conventional standard curing, and two heat curing methods with a constant temperature of 40 °C and 60 °C were used for comparison. The… Show more

“…† The TB180/190 specimen has the lowest calculation temperature (107.03 °C) and experimental temperature (139 °C), which explains that the longer the time and temperature of curing, the improved insulation properties of the specimen. 66 This observation suggests that increasing the curing time and temperature results in enhanced insulating qualities of the specimen. The study of the TB60/130 specimen's structural stability (Fig.…”

“…Form stripping, or the process of removing the formwork after the concrete has hardened, is another essential aspect for constructors as they usually prefer to remove it as early as possible for increased productivity and reduced costs [10]. The timing and method of form stripping can have a significant impact on the quality of the finished concrete surface, as well as the structural integrity [5].…”
