Effect of Thermal‐Related Fit Clearance between Outer Ring and Pedestal on the Vibration of Full Ceramic Ball Bearing

Abstract: Full ceramic bearing can work under a wide range of temperatures, but the thermal deformation difference between the ceramic outer ring and steel pedestal has a great increase with the rise of temperature and leads to obvious impact and friction. In this paper, the thermal deformation difference is considered and the fit clearance is taken as the boundary condition of the dynamic model. Investigations on the dynamic response of the outer ring are conducted, and the effect of thermal-related fit clearance is an… Show more

“…usually operate at different temperatures such as aeroengines and mining equipment [10,11]. The different temperatures and working conditions make the interaction of bearing system components more complex, resulting in the deviation in the frequency of bearing defects, then the previous methods of establishing dynamic models and comparing them are not accurate enough [12][13][14][15].…”

“…The previous dynamic models of bearings at different temperatures conditions mainly described the temperature variation gap between the bearings and the base, as well as the impact of bearing radial clearance on the bearingrotor dynamic response [16][17][18][19][20]. Shi et al [21] established an acoustic radiation model of all-ceramic ball bearing in a wide temperature range and studied the acoustic radiation characteristics of all-ceramic ball bearing systems in a wide temperature range under different operating conditions. Cao et al [22] established the dynamic model of rotor housing system with clearance bearing.…”

“…Sun et al performed simulations and analyses of the temperature field and distribution of lubricant in the cavity of full ceramic ball bearings under different operating circumstances and viscosities, which served as a guide for the selection of lubricant [8]. Shi et al investigated how high temperature affected the dynamic characteristics of a full ceramic ball bearing-rotor system and found that an appropriate tight fit between the outer ring and the pedestal could help reduce its impact [9].…”

“…Zhang et al [21] took the optimized heat transfer coefficient as the boundary condition to calculate the internal temperature fields and thermal deformation of the high-speed spindle, established a high-speed motorized spindle thermal deformation prediction model, and verified the prediction accuracy. Other aspects, such as the relationship between temperature of the internal components of the bearing and friction heat generation power [22][23][24], influence of changes in bearing structural parameters, contact thermal resistance and bearing temperature on the nonlinear thermal characteristics [25], prediction of bearing temperature fields distribution through the thermal-mechanical coupling model [26], influence of thermal related fit clearance between the bearing outer ring and pedestal on the vibration characteristics of full-ceramic bearings [27], have also been extensively studied, and effective conclusions have been drawn.…”
